Faking it as a Pastor

I think there are too many preachers who put on a false persona. It's plastic. I don’t know of any other vocation in which it is so easy to fake it, than that of a pastor. By adopting a pious demeanor, cultivating a stained-glass voice, and slipping occasional words like “eschatology” or “soteriology” or “exegesis” or "esoteric" into the conversation, we can convince people that our train of thought is a cut above the pew level.

Impressive indeed.

But who does it impress? Only those who like to pontificate.
