Fall has arrived in NW Florida, signaling change. We are having fabulous weather; it's cool and dry which is great for outdoor activities like picnics, festivals, and football.
Change is occurring in our nation as well. It doesn’t take a Political Science major to figure out that America is headed for monumental change. Both political parties on the Presidential ticket represent a historic change in the landscape of American politics. Whether the Republicans or Democrats win the Presidency, it will be historical.
Then there is the economy. Gas prices. Mortgage crisis. Wall street collapse. Government bail-out. China is calling for a world-currency; this is big. There is major unrest right now.
We are headed for change on a level unlike we have seen since the 1960’s. There is war. World terrorism. Of course, Iraq and Afghanistan will affect American policy (and Main Street) for years to come. These things are sure to ignite America in a firestorm of rapid change unlike we have seen in decades. This is not intended to prophesy doom; rather I am simply stating the obvious.
Yet, I see an opportunity for Pace Community Church. This is exactly the kind of climate that will jolt society into reality and for the Church to respond. During times like these spiritual receptivity goes up and people are responsive to the gospel. The immediate future may be the best opportunity we have seen in our lifetime to thrust forth the sickle and gather the harvest.
PCC has been through seasons of change herself…. orchestrated by the very hand of God. I see that now. As the Vinedresser He has done His work in us. Fruitful branches have been pruned. Dead wood removed. New growth has sprouted producing fresh fruit on the vine. We are the better for it. God has prepared us and positioned us to be His instrument for a new harvest in this climate of world change.
I feel a chill in the air today signaling fall. The world has also changed and PCC has been placed here for such a time as this. We are involved in a very big plan.
Revelation 14:15 (KJV) ….…Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe."
