Sunday Mind Dump - (TUESDAY EDITION)

You would have to been there.

The Fall Fest & Chili Cook Off, that is.  Turned out to be a great event.  Easily a couple hundred people there, probably three at one point.  It was well planned and executed.  Games for the kids, hayride, lots of chili, a big fire, and a lot of fun.  I especially enjoyed the hang time with friends.  It looked like everyone else was enjoying the fellowship too.  A special thanks to the people who made this happen (there was a lot of work and expense involved).  I’d like to give a shout out to Wayne O. and Bobby B. for spearheading this effort.  Job well done.

Butch H. won first place for best chili.  I think it was rigged.  :-)

Rob Hadding also came.  I got to meet his wife Marty.  Beautiful family.  Had a good visit with them.  Enjoyed introducing them around.

Looks like I’m going to have a very busy week.

I’m looking forward to the holidays, the cool weather has already gotten me in the mood..  At PCC we suspend a lot of our extra curricular activities during the holidays, such as small groups, Bible classes, etc, to make room for holiday activities and parties.  Plus, people just need the extra personal time.  I think it’s important to build margin into the calendar.

I’ve been preparing a message series from the book of Job for a while now, and it’s just about ready.  This will probably be the first series of 2012, to start in January.

It will be expository, through-the-book, chapter by chapter.  Btw, I preach that way about 60-70% of the time.

Job’s experience teaches us about the mystery of suffering and it’s one of the most fascinating books in the Bible.  Ironically, it’s also one of the most unread and untaught books of the Bible (probably) because it’s written in a poetry style.

I’d like to offer a special thank you to everyone who sent cards and gifts for Pastor’s Appreciation Month (which is October).  I read every card and every letter, and was very thankful of how God has impacted the lives of so many people through the ministry of PCC.  Thank you for the gifts too.  Your thoughtfulness shown to me and Renae is very much appreciated.
